This exciting feature packed add-on enhances the virtual world for almost every aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator. One of the most configurable add-ons of its type, allowing you to add more aircraft and configure the program to suit your own requirements. FDC Live Cockpit works with FS98, FS2000, FS2002, FS2004 and FSX Offering all the same features found in version 1. If flying a 747-200 you will experience the audio enhancements of all three crew members. The FDC Blackbox Log is yet another unique and original feature of this outstanding program and provides a wealth of flight information for those that want to know exactly how fast their last landing was… did they have the correct pitch on touchdown… what was their rate of descent during finals… when did the Captain call for 'gear up' during takeoff and when did the co-pilot actually carry out the captain's instruction, etc, etc. Primarily designed for bug-tracking purposes during development, the Blackbox Log records just about everything you do during each flight and is easily displayed from within the program. FDC ATC Chatter functionality is provided, allowing you to install your own ATC Chatter files which FDC will play at predetermined times during your flight. These files can be grouped geographically and also into controller sections ground, tower, departure, approach, en-route, etc. These controller folders can also be subdivided into specific COM frequency folders if you wish. FDC detects any COM frequency change and checks for folders within the correct controller section of the same name, making this a very flexible and powerful feature indeed. You select the geographical area of departure and arrival plus various areas you will pass through en route. FDC Airport ambience sounds are also provided recorded specifically for FDC. These are configurable dependent on the size of the departure and destination airports e. Small, medium or large. Using these options allow you to configure FDC to your exact liking. Totally new, easy to use, interface for working with the hundreds of configurable options available within FDC. Professional written documentation, provided in electronic PDF and CHM format for download versions plus a full 90 page printed manual with CD boxed versions. When selected FDC will check once per day to see if any new updates are available. Should you choose NOT to use this new option you may still use the 'Updates' control from the main menu. Obviously this is not of much use to the single pc user who runs FDC on the same pc as FS, but for those using networked pc's or multiple monitors this new feature may prove quite useful. ADDED Active Runway detection for FS2004 users ONLY!! The distance from the destination that this information is shown is entirely your choice, from the new options found on the AIRPORT TAB of MISC ITEMS display page. Once this information has been gathered FDC will present it to you in a number of ways, again entirely your choice. FDC can display a simple line of data either via ADVDisplay or using the default FS messaging window... FDC can also display a popup screen which overlays the FDC main menu, in this case it will show Airport name, Elevation, all available runways with the active one s highlighted, the ILS type, ILS frequency and finally the runway heading. This particular option is aimed more at those users running FDC on a client PC using something like WideFS. Another method FDC can use is to write this information to the FS Kneeboard and for those running FDC on the same pc as FS this will probably be the most convenient and best suited for that situation. You can also choose if you want the kneeboard to popup automatically or leave it as a manual operation. This feature uses the default 'Keylist' section so that feature of FS will be unavailable whilst using FDC's active runway listings. Finally FDC can give you an audible estimation of the designated runway, this will be from the PNF. Each of these options may be chosen in isolation or a combination of any or all of them. One point we must make about this feature, it is an 'estimation' of which runway ATC will assign you for landing but can never be taken as 100% definite. The data FDC uses via FSUIPC is gleaned from the AI traffic tables for the airport you entered as your destination. So, if there are no flights currently on route to that airport, or if you have AI Traffic turned off, FDC will not be able to determine the active runway at all. The actual airport data i. Also, for those airports utilising multiple runways for landing FDC will not be able to determine exactly which one you will be assigned and will have to highlight each one designated for landings, in this situation the audio prompts will assume the 'first' in the list to be the active one. ADDED more VCP-X virtual co-pilot options for the takeoff phase of flight. These include the VCP turning the AP to ON at a specified altitude, turning the HDG to ON and the ALT hold to ON, also at a specified altitude, plus turning the Auto Throttle ON and the IAS hold. All optional of course and you may turn anyone of these OFF if you wish. ADDED yet another option for the VCP to perform. This one configures the VCP to turn the Autobrake switch to RTO. You may now choose between a Option Off, b After leaving the gate and before the Taxi checks or c prior to the Before Takeoff checks ADDED another for the VCP where you can set a maximum speed for when flying below 10,000' and if your speed goes above that you will hear a verbal warning from your PNF VCP. This is for those areas where speed restrictions are imposed for flights below 10,000' ADDED a new VCP option where you can select to have the Alt Baro pressure settings read out in millibars rather than inches of mercury. This controls if and when your VCP will warn you if your taxi speed exceeds the value you enter here. Again this is optional and you may turn the feature off if required. ADDED 'Load Profile' and 'Delete Profile' buttons to the main options display to further enhance the additional profile info now shown on this display. ADDED additional options for playing 'User Files' Flight Deck Announcements. Previously you had the choice of Short, Medium or Long Haul. The extra option Auto will determine which file set to used depending on a the distance to your destination provided you utilise that feature and b the distances for each of the three settings you configure as your choice. To use this new feature you will have to enter the maximum distance for short haul trips and medium haul trips. FDC will configure the rest for you. If you select this new Auto option but leave the mileage settings at zero, or you do not enter the ICAO for your destination on the main menu screen, the Journey Type will default to Long Haul. ADDED even more options for playing 'User Files' Flight Deck Announcements. These new options allow you to select the sound channel you want the various files to use when played. For instance, currently the user files use the same sound channel as the Cabin Announcements, which means they use the sound volume settings also. The FlightDeck announcements also used this channel by default. Now you may select between the Cabin, Captain PF or Co-pilot PNF sound channels to play the user files and you may choose either the Captain PF or Co-pilot PNF to play the FlightDeck announcements. ADDED a new feature to process all voice set wav files to speed up how each phrase or word is spoken. This feature does not alter the pitch of the wav files and voice sets can be restored to their original state at anytime, thereby giving you the opportunity to experiment with various settings. ADDED functionality to allow double-clicking ANY runway displayed on the main menu popup screen to auto set the AP CRS and NAV1 frequency. Note, this runway does NOT have to be listed as being the active! ADDED - Your 'active' profile if any is now displayed on the main options screen, just below your selected aircraft picture. ADDED additional options to the 'System' section of Misc options. These options allow you to choose to have various messages displayed either via ADVDisplay or the default FS message window. These messages include the 'Max IAS' permitted under an altitude of 10K, the 'Cruise' info showing optimum Flight Level, etc and the Distance and Time left to go to your destination. ADDED additional options to the 'Airports' section of Misc Options. These options pertain to the new 'active runway' feature described above:- The first option allows you to enter the number of miles from the destination airport that FDC will use the Active Runway information if any that's found and alert you depending on the additional options you've set see below. At this distance FDC would also stop scanning for Active Runway information, thereby eliminating any unnecessary processing during the approach phase. Enabling the second option will send the destination runway information i. Runway, Length, ILS, Frequency, Heading and the Active Runway to either the ADVDisplay or the default FS message window. The third option enables Audio Prompts from the PNF with regard to 'his assumed' Active Runway. The fourth option is used to send the destination runway information i. Runway, Length, ILS, Frequency, Heading and the Active Runway to either the ADVDisplay or the FS Kneeboard. Using this option will also enable the Kneeboard to 'popup' automatically. The final option will send the destination runway information i. Runway, Length, ILS, Frequency, Heading and the Active Runway to a new popup window which will overlay the FDC main menu display. This is obviously most useful for those running FDC on a client PC with WideFS, etc. From this display you may also double-click ANY runway listed and have the Autopilot CRS and NAV1 frequency automatically set with the displayed data. ADDED additional option to the Ambience section on the Misc Option display page. This feature will only work if you enter your destination ICAO on the main menu. When active this feature will play each en-route section in turn for approximately one third of the total distance to your destination. If on a 3,000 mile trip the En-route 1 selection will be played till you're approximately 2,000 miles from your destination and then switch to En-route 2. At approximately 1,000 to go FDC will switch to using En-route 3. The Hotkey sequence Shift+Ctrl+X may still be used at anytime during the flight. ADDED an additional option on the main menu display so you may now set your departure time as the actual time rather than a countdown timer. The original default method is retained which allows you to set a number of minutes which acts as a countdown from the moment you 'connect to FS'. Whereas the new option allows you to set the actual FS Local time for your departure. Please Note: The FS Local time is checked at the moment you 'connect' to FS and is not checked again. What this means is if you set the departure time in FDC and then change the time in FS after you 'connect' FDC will not know anything about this shift in time, consequently those other features which are triggered by this timer will either not occur at all or will occur later than you think they should. ADDED - FDC now remembers its last position onscreen and will automatically start in that position again next time you use it. Same applies to the main menu and options display pages. This will be most useful for those using a second monitor. ADDED - FDC now uses a database containing data over 50,000 runways for airports around the simulator world. With this amount of data it would have been an impossible task to check all the information for accuracy. Should you find any incorrect information we have included a database editor to allow you to change any of the runway frequency or heading data. Using this database editor does not change any data within flight simulator. NEW CHECKLISTS AND FLIGHTDECK CALLS FEATURES ADDED an additional control for the ATC chatter feature. You may now hit the SPACE bar to stop any chatter immediately. This should prove useful when you want to listen to FS ATC commands. The same hotkey still works for pausing any checklist calls when in Auto mode. ADDED Enhanced Engine Start calls for the 747-200 and 747-400 series ADDED over 100 additional calls and responses to the checklists. Hotkey selections are SAVED when you SAVE a profile, so you may have different combinations of hotkeys used for different aircraft. Removed the Main Help button and replaced with a small '? Please remember the online help may be accessed at anytime from within the program by simply pressing the F1 key on your keyboard. CHANGED the VCP-X virtual co-pilot options display to a more logical format, providing different groups for Takeoff, Cruise, Landing and General options. CHANGED the layout of the Misc Options page to cater for additional items which are now categorised into four areas, namely System, Logging, Ambience and Airports. CHANGED the Fonts used throughout for all text and buttons, making things much clearer in general, especially for those using TFT monitors. CHANGED the way you can configure FDC messages to display these appear either in ADVDisplay or the default FS message window... You may now choose on the Misc Options page to have these message 'scroll' rather than just display as a static display. This can be useful if messages are too long for the size of display window you prefer. A new option on the 'Misc' page allows you to add a timeout value in seconds. So, if FDC does not detect any activity for this length of time it will automatically disconnect. Please note, opening any of the FS menus will render FS 'inactive' as far as this feature is concerned. Personally I find the default of 60 seconds works well because once 'connected' I rarely have to use the FS menus and if I do it's certainly not for any great length of time... But you may enter a longer timeout if you wish with a maximum value of 999 seconds approximately 17 minutes. I guess that should be long enough for anyone! SHIFT+N scans the nearside views the same as using the numeric keys 7 and 4 with a slight pause between each view. SHIFT+O scans the offside views the same as using the numeric keys 9 and 6 again with a slight pause between each. SHIFT+M scans all views the same as using the numeric keys 4, 7, 9 and 6 with a slight pause between each view. I personally have these keys assigned to my Yoke buttons and like to use them when taxing, to me it's much easy to hit one button to check if there's any other taxiing aircraft dangerously close prior to making turns, etc. FIXED a problem when using FDC alongside Radar Contact 4. The second one is played once all passengers have left the aircraft and the default included file plays 'all passengers have left the aircraft captain'. Obviously you may change these files to one of your own choice if you wish to play a different sound at these times, just ensure you use the correct filenames. Equally if you don't like or require these additional sounds simply delete or rename these files and then you won't hear them at all. NOTE : To used FDC with the LD 767 you must do the following o Download and install Nico Kaan's FSCONV version 6. FIXED a small problem which could result in the flaps not being set correctly prior to takeoff, especially if you started with a flap setting higher than the normal takeoff setting. ADDED 'some' changes in an attempt to fix the problem some users experience toward the end of a long haul flight where FDC issues an Error 6 message. I am not 100% confident this has addressed the issue simple due to not being able to recreate the problem nor having seen any relevant information in the logs previously provided. NEW TO VERSION 3. This should prevent either program PFE or FDC from stepping on each other. Each program is now fully aware of the other. If FDC is currently playing a checklist and PFE ATC contact YOU then the checklist will automatically pause and resume once the transmission is complete from both sides. However, if PFE ATC is talking with another aircraft the checklist will not pause but the volume of PFE ATC will be lowered, although that is optional and your part fully adjustable. Also, whereas FDC only had two transition altitude settings to work with it will now use whatever you have configured in PFE. In addition to that FDC will be made aware of the cruise altitude in your PFE flight plan, which will make some of the cruise altitude triggered calls more accurate and easier to implement. Various other program elements will be passed back and forth between the programs to allow for further interaction both now and for future enhancements…. So watch this space. It now plays BEFORE the announcement FIXED - the problem where the new UnBoarding wav file was not being played at the end of the flight. FIXED a problem where setting any of the User files to trigger during a descent were being triggered as soon as FDC was connected. FIXED the repeating 'Start number on.... Click on the 'or click here' to see the option available... Previously you only had two choices... Call Spoilers on Landing only 4. Call Speedbrakes on Landing only 5. These show the time remaining till your Departure, time remaining till the boarding ambience starts and time remaining till the first Cabin Announcement is made. NEW TO VERSION 3. ADDED - The new timers on the main menu screen to indicate departure time, etc, will now 'pause' whenever FS is in 'pause mode'.
